Sensory Play
Help children explore and experience tactile, visual, auditory and physical movement. Sensory integration or processing is the ability to take in and interpret information from the senses. All the senses work together to provide a complete picture of what is happening in and around you. The brain organizes the information from sight, sound, texture, smell, taste and movement to understand and respond appropriately. The skills related to sensory integration help children strengthen their ability to receive sensory stimulation, recall previous experiences, and use them effectively.
Children with sensory processing issues may have an aversion to lights and noise or feel unusually uncomfortable / restricted by certain clothes or shoes. Experiencing sensory overload can be quite traumatic for the child and the exhausting for the caregiver. Finding products that help children explore and experience tactile, visual, auditory and physical movement can assist them in learning how to use the information to understand, make choices, decisions and conclusions.
